Broken Spoke Stables is located on my family’s century old farm that dates back to 1790. When our family first settled in this valley, our farm was a relay station for horse drawn mail. We are proud to have had the farm for so many generations and enjoy sharing this beautiful valley with others.
We offer activities such as trail rides into the woods, lessons for those who like to learn about horses from the ground up, and boarding and training for those who have their own horses. We also rescue horses who need rehabilitation or retraining. All activities are open to locals and visitors to our wonderful Catskill Mountain area.
Boarding
We Offer Full and Rough Boarding
Full Board Includes:
stall time, turn-out, twice-a-day feeding, fresh quality hay and water, blanketing, and light grooming.
Rough Board Includes:
24/7 turn-out, twice-a-day feeding, 24/7 water troughs, hay as needed, group turn-out, and plenty of pasture!

Do you want to see how fast you can do a barrel pattern or how smoothly and elegantly you can jump a hunt course? Either way, Broken Spoke offers lessons for each! We do hour, group or private lessons for any level rider!
Trail Riding
Travel the Catskill Mountains
The Catskill Mountains are none the less breath taking on their own. Now, imagine being on the back of one of our loving horses and seeing it up close and personal! Will it be a family trail ride through the river or a date for two through the lush growing fields? All rides are by reservation only. If your weight is over 225 pounds please let me know at time of booking reservation. Horses are available for larger adults.

We offer a fun and friendly environment for kids to learn all the ropes of being in the barn and around horses. Kids will learn the basics of barn management (feeding, grooming, and turning out). They will also learn how to ride a horse or continue their knowledge of riding. We offer both English and western riding, more specifically, hunter/jumpers, western pleasure, gymkhana, and fun and some challenging trail riding!

Stronger Competition Techniques
Here at Broken Spoke we offer a fun and friendly show environment to test your riding skills and overall the fun of horse shows. If you're interested in showing one of our horses the whole season, we offer in barn partial leases or we are flexible to other options. If you board with us, showing is optional as well!

Had an amazing experience with my boyfriend this weekend at broken spoke stable. It was both our first time riding and everyone made sure we had a safe and fun experience. The horses we rode were so sweet and took us through the woods on a beautiful ride. It was especially nice to just be in the moment with a really great group. The owner gave us the option to hold our belonging or leave them in our cars to ensure we didn’t lose anything on the trail and to keep ourselves and others safe. She took a photo of us afterwards too. We would definitely go back and highly recommend! They also have a super sweet dog that loved playing fetch with us when we got there.

Went for a group trail ride today. I have 40 plus years working with and training horses all over the country, and having a riding facility of my own. Christie has extremely sound and very well trained horses. They don't just follow, they each have had proper training to take direction from their rider. Because of this she can host any level of rider and pair them to the correct horse. The facility is absolutely beautiful. It is kept extremely clean, and has the perfect set up for ease of access. It is very evident the time, effort and pride that goes into that stable. If you want a real riding experience, this is the place to be!

Went for a trail ride today. There were 4 of us. My husband and I are experienced riders, our 2 guests are not. Christie took the time to explain and demonstrate proper horsemanship and safety. She taught how to properly address, mount, and direct a horse. She has a positive approach and can make any new rider feel confident. Her horses were complete ladies and gentlemen as well. My husband has decades of experience and was highly impressed at the immaculate facility, and the caring, helpful staff. This is a DEFINATE must go, when in the area. We highly recommend Broken Spoke to anyone!

My boyfriend & I went on Sunday for the first time ever. We both have never ridden before, BUT they taught us EVERYTHING we needed to know. We’re so kind, so patient and answered my 10 thousand questions. The horses were so tame and nice. The stables were so clean. Everyone was so nice and it was an amazing experience. What a great experience. Went for an hour trail ride with my wife today and we had a blast. Christy and Ananda are extreamy friendly and professional horse back trainers. We were impressed and cant waint to go back. If you want to go horse back riding this is the place!

Absolutely love this place!!! They make you feel right at home. We have gone on a few trail rides over the years for special occasions and every time it's memorable. Christy takes here time with you with excellent instructions and the horses are well behaved. I would highly recommend a visit!!

Had a good time and staff was very friendly. Only complaint... wasn’t allowed to take photos during the ride or really given opportunity to before or after from my own camera. Owner took some and said she would email. She emailed photos of wrong family and we never got our pictures.

OMG I SIMPLY LOVED THE EXPERIENCE. My friend and I took the last tour of the day with Ananda. The horses are beautiful and majestic. Ananda was an awesome tour guide. Lots of Charisma and spunk. I will definitely visit again.
